Library Facilities

Introduction

 

The library at ITT Dublin has a number of facilities available to students. Some of these are bookable through the library website.

Facilities

 

Group Study Rooms

Three group study rooms are available upstairs in the library. These can be booked by students who wish to work together on projects. The rooms can be booked through the library website for a two hour period and for a maximum of six people.

 

Group Study Area

There is a group study area upstairs in the library adjacent to the 3 bookable study rooms. There are tables and chairs for groups to work together on projects.


Please be aware that other students are studying outside these rooms and noise levels should be kept to a minimum.

 

Silent Study Area

There is a large silent study area on the ground floor of the library. This area is strictly for silent study only and users will be asked to leave this area if he/she creates any noise. There are a number of power points along one end of the room for library users who wish to bring their laptops with them.

 

Computers

There is an open access computer lab available upstairs in the library. There are also a number of computers available on the mezzanine. These computer are available on a first come first served basis.
Problems with computers should be reported to Computing Services at extension 2555.

 

Laptops

The library holds a number of laptops that can be used by registered students. These are only for use within the library and can be borrowed for a maximum of 2 hours after which time the borrower will accrue 1 penalty point for every 15 minutes overdue. Laptops cannot be renewed. Laptops can be borrowed at the library desk on presentation of a current student card.

 

Camcorder

The library one camcorder that can be used by registered students. This is only for use within the library and can be borrowed for a maximum of 2 hours after which time the borrower will accrue 1 penalty point for every 15 minutes overdue. The camcorder cannot be renewed. It can be borrowed at the library desk on presentation of a current student card.

 

Self Service Machine

Situated on the library desk the self service machine allows students and staff to borrow and return items when a member of library staff is not available at the library desk, or when there is a queue for assistance from library staff. Just follow the on screen instructions and place returns in the returns bin beside the centre.
Please note that your account must be in good order to use the self service centre.

 

Printing and Photocopying

Facilities for printing and photocopying in the library are available on the ground floor, around the corner from the library desk. Here you will also find the facility to put credit on your student account to pay for printing and photocopying. An additional printer / photocopier is available upstairs in the group study area.
Please note that items copied in the library are subject to copyright law.
Problems with printing and photocopying should be reported to the Reprographics Centre on the first floor.

 

Assistive Technology Software

Assistive technology software is available on all the pc's in the library.

 

Microfiche reader, Microfilm reader, Televisions with Video player / DVD player

The micro readers are available in the silent study area on the ground floor.
Remote controls and headphones for the TVs and DVD Players are available from staff at the library desk. The televisions are available at the top of the stairs on the first floor.

 

Power points for use with personal equipment

Any power point in the library that is not being used to power library equipment can be used to power personal equipment, such as laptops, notebooks and ipads. Where you see a white pipe coming down a wall there is usually a power point at the bottom of it.

Areas in the library with power points include:

  • Downstairs study area and silent study area.
  • Mezzanine study desks
  • Mezzanine group study area and study rooms.

Wifi

Wifi access is available throughout the library.
