Where should I publish my research?

When deciding where to submit your research for publication you will need to identify the leading, high quality journals in your discipline. This can be done by:

            • carrying out a literature review to identify the key journals for your research area
            • asking your supervisor and other researchers in your discipline for guidance
            • use a number of indicators such as citation analysis tools, e.g. Journal Citation Reports, SJR, Publish or Perish, calculate impact factors; and for individual authors use the h index etc.
            • acceptance and rejection rates - many journals and publishers display their acceptance or rejection rate on their website. It could be assumed that those with a low acceptance rate are the most prestigious in their field as they only accept the best quality articles.
