| Summary |
Buuel's satirical look at middle-class hypocrisy, in which the sadomasochistic fantasies of a beautiful, bored house-wife come to life. Catherine Deneuve stars as the virginal newly-wed Severine, who indulges her sadomasochistic tendencies by day working in a high class Parisian brothel, whilst at night avoiding the advances of her ever patient husband. Encountering a variety of strange and perverted clients, Severine falls in love. Or does she? Buel seemingly merges fantasy and reality in this surrealist voyage into the mind of Severine. |
